Hey Daniel DeMarco,

The bot thing I have no answer. I’m sure I have some bots, but I also have a good community of people I associate with.

My Read to Recommend is actually not bad. I range from 5% rec to read to 60% rec to read. But we’re talking 60–100 people reading something I write.

If you want to be read, and get your writing out there, the best bet by far is to get into publications. Most do good legwork and tweet/socially network their new stories so you never have to. My most read piece was randomly picked up by The Startup Grind. 2.1k reads and climbing. The recs for that piece are just over 100. So, my read to rec is low, but it got people reading my other stuff. Besides the mantra here is views, not even reads, and least of all recs. The Ringer articles that make it onto the “popular on medium” page have low recs because much of their readership does not even have a medium account.

You have fun stuff to read, and you can write, pick a good topic and pitch it somewhere appropriate. That will help you get more people reading you.
